As well as submititng a Key Component Bid prior to a large project bid, the four West of England authorities are also part of a wider South West bid to the Local Sustainable Transport Fund to introduce smart ticketing technology to public transport across the whole of the South West.
Plymouth City Council is co-ordinating a partnership bid with 14 other local transport authority areas covering the whole South West region: Bath & North East Somerset Council, Borough of Poole, Bournemouth Borough Council, Bristol City Council, Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Dorset County Council, Gloucestershire County Council, North Somerset Council, Plymouth City Council, Somerset County Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Swindon Borough Council, Torbay Council, Wiltshire Council
This project will enable most public transport journeys throughout south west England to be undertaken using smart ticketing technology which will support economic growth, reduce carbon, and enhance social mobility.
