The West of England Partnership's vision to improve transport across the region

Proposed new bus lane for Lysander Road

A consultation has been launched on proposals to introduce an additional bus lane on Lysander Road, Cribbs Causeway.

A new westbound bus lane will be constructed on Lysander Road, between the Pegasus Road and Merlin Road junctions. Lysander Road serves the shops and facilities at Cribbs Causeway. This route is often congested resulting in considerable delays to bus services.

The existing carriageway will be widened to accommodate the new bus lane so no general traffic lanes will be lost.

People are being invited to give their views on the proposals and find out more information by:

Visiting the council’s website – www.southglos.gov.uk/consultation – then clicking on ‘the consultation diary’
Writing to the council’s transport services, Broad Lane, Yate, BS37 7PN

The scheme is part of the Greater Bristol Bus Network (GBBN) £70m investment funded by the Department for Transport which will develop ten bus corridors to benefit around 70 bus services. These corridors will substantially improve the quality of bus services within the region.

Councillor Brian Allinson, executive member for planning, transportation and strategic environment, said: “This additional bus lane will be an entirely new stretch of road and is one of a number planned to reduce delays for bus users in South Gloucestershire.”

The deadline for comments is 16th September.
