Application forms and guidance on how to apply for a Travel Plan Award or for a Special Award can be found here

Travel Plan Award BronzeBRONZE AWARD
The Bronze Award recognises the foundation work required for successful Travel Plans. Businesses need to demonstrate that their Travel Plan has managerial support, dedicated resources, and in most cases that a staff travel survey and consultation have been undertaken.

Travel Plan Award SilverSILVER AWARD
The Silver Award recognises the commitment necessary to make progress with a Travel Plan. In addition to the work required for the Bronze Award, businesses will also have implemented a range of measures for cyclists, pedestrians, car sharers and public transport users, as well as establishing targets for sustainable travel.

SILVER STAR AWARD
This award level was introduced in 2009 for organisations which have continued to make good progress, building upon previous successes but not quite amounting to Gold level.

Travel Plan Award GoldGOLD AWARD
For the Gold Award, businesses need to have demonstrated that their Travel Plan has achieved positive changes in staff travel patterns, as well as being able to satisfy the requirements for the Bronze and Silver Awards.

PLUS Are you the employer of the year?
All Award winning companies help us to inspire other employers to provide their own alternative travel measures, helping to promote sustainable travel and reduce congestion. An additional Employer of the Year Award may be awarded for outstanding achievement in reducing single occupancy vehicle use or where progress has been made particularly rapidly, or against difficult odds.

Special Awards
This year we are trialling five new Special Awards with only one winner for each.  These  Awards are open to all businesses in the West of England and may be applied for in conjunction with the main Travel Plan Award or separately.  If you do not have a Travel Plan in place, we shall require simple, additional evidence of the context for your activity. The Awards are intended to provide recognition for the exceptional work businesses across the West of England have put into reducing dependence on the private car.

These are the Special Awards categories:

Best Sustainable Travel Event
This award is designed to recognise sustainable travel events put on across the West of England area.  This may be one single event or a series of activities which combine to form a single campaign.  This may have been a combined event across one or more companies to provide more of an impact.  Was the event focussed on one particular sustainable mode of travel or did it encompass a range of modes?  What was the outcome of the event, for example did it have a positive influence on reducing single occupancy vehicle rates? How many participants did the event attract?

Most Dramatic Modal Shift
This award provides recognition for the company that has demonstrated the greatest modal shift.  For example, this may be the greatest reduction of single occupancy vehicle rates, or the greatest increase in the number of staff cycling and has this shift been maintained?

Most Innovative Travel Plan Measure
This award is for an organisation that has developed an innovative technique, product or service that has provided a benefit to travel planning.  You will need to provide evidence of the measure and explain the outcome, especially if it was linked to a percentage change in travel behaviour.

Most Effective Travel Plan Measure
This award is designed to reward an outstanding travel plan measure, which may be either a physical installation or a soft measure linked to behavioural change.  It may have been a measure that was just focussed on one particular mode of travel or all encompassing.  You will need to demonstrate the outcome of introducing the measure as well as whether it was linked to a percentage change in mode share across any modes.

Most Committed Travel Planning Individual
This award is for an individual who it is felt has shown outstanding commitment to implementing their Travel Plan.  The individual will need to demonstrate what they have achieved, (for example whether they have introduced any specific measures), and what the change in modal share across all travel modes has been. The person nominated will also need to lead by example and demonstrate full commitment to sustainable travel in their own travel to work.
