One way fare
Just pay for each journey as you make it - this is the simplest option, but if you are making more than one journey or need to change buses, the following options may be cheaper. To find out how much your fare will cost please contact the bus operator.
Return Ticket
Return tickets are often cheaper, but if you buy a return bus ticket please make sure that your return journey will be run by the same bus company, as this is not always the case, even on the same service route.
One day/week/month and annual tickets
Many operators offer tickets covering various time periods which can offer savings. Some of these can be bought direct from the bus driver. If you use the bus on a regular basis please ask your driver the options available or contact the bus operator directly.
Group/Attraction tickets
Some operators offer group tickets for families, large groups and so on. Also there can be discounts on entry to attractions or reduced fares if you travel by bus. Check with the local bus operator to see if you can benefit.
Concessions
For those of qualifying ages and eligible disabled, you can apply for a bus pass providing free off peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. For more information contact your local authority.
Many operators offer discounts for students, please ask your bus driver to see if you many be eligible and how to apply.
In South Gloucestershire for those aged 14-18 and in full time education you can apply for a pass for half price adult fare. For more information visit www.southglos.gov.uk/youthunltd
